 Florida Auctioneers Storm the Capitol

Members of The Florida Auctioneers Association will visit with members of Florida’s Legislation

March 31st, 2014  (TALLAHASSEE, FL.) – Florida Auctioneers will storm the Capitol Wednesday April 2nd with plans to visit every member of Florida’s Legislature. This is a most important undertaking for Florida’s Auctioneers with many aspirations of bringing the message that members of this association wants public awareness about the industry. We also want to bring important issues and pending legislation to the attention of members of the House and Senate” Says Myers Jackson CAI, Public Relations Chairman for the FAA” The Auction Industry has been a part of society for hundreds of years and now is not the time to go unnoticed or be undone and Auctioneers are here cry out with a loud voice” says Jackson.

Rose White

FAA President Chad Johnson started this project in 2013 and current President Rose White is determined to continue to make our presents known in Tallahassee. All Auctioneers and members of the public are asked to please join us not only for a great experience but to let our government know who we are, what we do for the consumer and that laws & licensing are needed.  “We feel this is very important for us to be seen & heard in Tallahassee says “Rose White, President FAA “Our Government needs to know what we do and how we affect consumers and the economy and deregulation is not the answer to Protect The Consumer!” says White.

 In 2013 Florida Auctioneers took the Capitol early and continued through out the day going through every floor of Florida’s Capitol Building.  “The highlight of the day was a special gavel presentation personally to Senate President Don Gaetz,” said Chad Johnson, 2013 FAA President. “The Senator took time to discuss important actions in numerous bills that affect the auction industry. Another gavel presentation was made to the staff for The Speaker of the House Will Weatherford.”

 The auctioneers spent the entire day meeting with committee chairs and legislators from their home districts and countless others.

 “The day was a huge success,” Johnson said. “The efforts put forward by all involved were certainly proactive movements and show the dedication to the advancement and protection of consumers as well has members of the association.”

As Auctioneers look to talk about the important issues they also want to get to know their legislator better than ever. This is a prime opportunity for industry leaders to converge with our states leaders. Talking about issues and being better able to understand how bills and committees work in the process of making law will be on top of the agenda. This group of fast talkers looks to slow the pace and take a role of learning while promoting the importance of the Auction Industry.

Some of the issues that face Auctioneers are the second hand dealer law and regulation of auctions and auctioneers. Joseph F. Kikta, GPPA, CES recently spoke with the Florida Auction Commission, the body that is tasked to regulate Auctioneers throughout the state and has brought multiple issues to the attention of the commission such as online biding and definitions of the terms Auctions and Auctioneers and the standards that regulate the industry. Mr. Kikta is the Chairman of the Legislative Affairs Committee for the Florida Auctioneers Association. All are sure that there will be great conversation about these issues as well as others.

Have you ever heard the term ”Have Gavel will Travel’ well if you haven’t and you wish to meet some of the states best Auctioneers take the time to travel to Tallahassee. Get to know a great group of professionals that are ready and willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to help in the time of crisis or just because a seller wants a competitive marketplace to sell goods and property. While working for families handling estate auctions or attorneys with trust dispositions Auctioneers are always standing tall. Calling bids to help raise money for charitable organizations all over the State Auctioneers while producing millions of dollars for great causes. Selling Real Property first at Auction with strong marketing skills and not as a last resort. Selling personal property, conducting business and equipment sales in live outcry events or online only auctions happen almost daily. Some Auctioneers specialize in bankruptcy and foreclosure work, however the scope of our talents goes far beyond the courthouse steps.  Take the challenge come see for yourself in Tallahassee, get to know the movers and shakers in a fast paced world of Auctioneering.

All Auctioneers and the public are welcome to attend this special event in Tallahassee on Wednesday. More information about this event and other happenings with the Florida Auctioneer Association may be found at

Moecker Auctions Sponsors Main Event at Florida Auctioneers Association

IMGP2248Moecker Auctions Sponsors Main Event at Florida Auctioneers Association

Summer Convention (June 9th – 11th)

This year the Florida Auctioneers Association held its “45th Summer Convention” at the Boca Raton Marriot in Town Center, Boca Raton, Florida.  55 Registered Attendee’s were treated to a wealth of informative insights by some of Florida’s most experienced and well established auctioneers.  Our thanks to Stan Crooks, Matt Green, Benny Fisher and Lynne Zink (who made the trip from Maryland) for taking the time to enlighten us with their unique perspectives and information about the auction industry and related subjects.  Thanks also to Charlene Mills and Andrew Adler from the U.S. Post Office for their presentation on Advertising and Shipping alternatives.

Our own Rose White, President Elect of the Florida Auctioneers Association served on a panel with Chris Fisher and Christine Dudley answering questions about the auction process from start to finish.  Thank you all for sharing your substantial knowledge and experience with all of the attendee’s.

Cliff Shuler Auctioneers and Liquidators sponsored the Breaks and Debbie Shuler, FAA Secretary/Treasurer and crew did a fabulous job of organizing the entire event.  Chad Johnson, FAA President and Don Kirkland, FAA Vice President welcomed everyone and provided great information on current issues and concerns regarding the auction business and how auctioneers can get involved with the Florida Legislature to have a voice on these issues.

Everyone had a “Great Time” at the “Fun Auction” and we raised over $3,000.00 that will go directly to the FAA.  Thank you for your generosity everyone!

The convention wound up with the State of Florida Board of Auctioneers meeting, Michael Moecker presiding with members Fred Dietrich and Donald Shearer in attendance as well as support staff.

As a first time attendee, it was great to see the camaraderie within the industry and the genuine love these auctioneers have for the business.  Even more impressive is the commitment to “protect” and “preserve” the public’s trust.  These Auctioneers are dedicated to “doing the right thing” by their clients and are willing to put their money where their mouth is by going the extra mile and taking it to the legislature, which, as we all know can be quite a task.  This made me feel proud to be in the company of this group.

Welcome to all who are new and many thanks for all the support from everyone. Your efforts made the 2013 FAA Summer Conference a terrific experience!  Great job!

It’s a boy!

Everyone at Moecker Auctions would like to congratulate Jason and his wife for the birth of their first child born on September 10th.

See tiny fingers and tiny toes,
Bright baby eyes, cute baby nose;
Hear baby gurgles and baby sighs,
As Mom and Dad sing lullabies.
Life is changed, but that’s okay;
It’s fun to spend glad hours each day,
Taking time for all the good
That comes along with parenthood.
